Sent to Health Experts October 09 11:19 AM

Back on September I had sex with my boyfriend using a condom, however when i got home i was having my burning and itching feeling and decided to use my vandazole think it would help. It went away. Just this past Fridday I had unprotective sex with my boyfriend not thinking about the fact that I used the Vandazole, which says that you shouldn't have vaginal sex while using it and that it has mineral oil that can effect weaken condoms and birth control contraceptives, I used the nova ring for my contraceptive. Is there something I should do or am i just over reacting.

You do not really need to worry. Metronidazole gel would affect only 'local' contraceptives like condoms or barrier ointments, while Nuva ring contains estradiole which acts systemetically as well. This effect would not be curtailed by the gel.   So you do not have any extra chances of conceiving because of using the gel.
