As far as brown discharge is concerned, this typically means old blood that the body is just trying to get rid of, so unless there is a foul odor this is quite normal. As far as any other type of discharge, as it has lasted for more than 10 days, this really needs to be evaluated by a doctor to determine the cause. As you have switched on and off with birth control, it's possible that it is a hormonal imbalance going on. Other reasons for cycle abnormalities include stress, weight gain/loss, thryoid, infection, illness, medications, polyp, cyst, amongst other reasons. Please see your doctor for an exam and testing to determine what the exact cause may be.

What I listed above are the most common causes, but as you have no other symptoms, it leads me to believe that you have a hormonal imbalance. If this is the case your doctor would perform a blood test for confirmation.

It may stop, but it may not. This is why it is best to see your doctor to get your levels checked out to see where you stand. It can take 2-3 months for your body to get used to not being on the hormones, but I would still see your doctor since it should not be going on for 2 weeks or more.
