REPLIED Check Mark

If the female has been on the pill for more than 2 weeks, takes the pill each and every day, then there is no need for emergency contraceptive. The pill is basically 99% effective.

She has taken 4 extra pills tonight (Lo/Ovral) and was planning on doing the same 12 hours later tomorrow morning, if she does this will it be OK, meaning no negative side effects to her.

Thanks!

ACCEPTED Check Mark

4 now and 4 in 12 hours is the way to use Lo/OVral as an emergency contraceptive. Every woman does react differently. There is no way to know if she will actually have any reaction.

However some things to look for are difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. If she develops any of this, then she needs to be seen.

A list of serious side effects to look for include:

  • sudden numbness or weakness, especially on one side of the body;

  • sudden headache, confusion, pain behind the eyes, problems with vision, speech, or balance;

  • chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling;

  • a change in the pattern or severity of migraine headaches;

  • nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);

  • swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet;

  • a breast lump; or

  • But for future reference, as long as she takes her pill daily, then she is protected. By taking the pills as she has, may cause her period to come early and may even cause break through bleeding and/or spotting.

    So keep an eye on her over the next couple of days and go by the list above if she develops any of those symptoms, then she needs medical attention.

    Hope this helps, If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don't forget to click the *ACCEPT* button and please take a moment to leave me *POSITIVE* feedback.
