I am 24 years old and have been having severe pain in the lower left side. It started when I stopped using my birth control pill last year and it's been getting worse. I also have not been able to conceive as of yet. My gyn told me first I have a functional cyst. The pain usually feels like somebody is ripping out my left ovary or something is blocked there and my lower back starts hurting also. What could it be, endometriosis or something worse? Thank you

Hi,

Have you undergone an Ultrasound and pelvic examination by the gynaecologist ?

Any relevant findings if any ?

I did one last September, and all they could find was a complex cyst and then the second time a functional cyst. Nothing else. I'm assuming if they found cancer or tumour they'd be able to see it then.

So how dangerous is this to me and me being able to have children? I know I'm supposed to ask only one question, sorry. I'm just scared since my gyn said that I might have endometriosis and that i'm considered infertile. Thank you for all your help Dr. Munjal. I appreciate it

Well if one ovary is normal there is chances that you may be fertile . But if endometriosis is diagnosed then chances of having a baby are less .

As such TVS Ultrasound can diagnose endometriosis is most of the patients .

Also FNAC may help to determine the prognosis .
