I am currently taking Jolessa birth control and I have one more week of active pills. However,at first, i had slight spotting but I have been bleeding constantly and heavily for over 2 months now at times with blod clots. Moreover, at times I get a sharp pain on my lower left abdomen and cramping like tightness. I am worried especially since 3 years ago I had a ruptured ovarian cyst. what could be going on?

First of all it does take about 3 months for your body to adjust to certain birth controls.

Since you are having all the bleeding you are and are nearing your 3rd pack, I highly suggest you talk with your doctor into switching to something else. Since you use to take Seasonale, you may want to go back on that one. However, prior to do that, I would ask for an ultra sound to see if you do have a cyst again. Sometimes "hormone" and especially from BCP's, can cause one to develop cysts. So if you stop the BCP all together or switch to the one you had no problems with, this should reverse the cyst again.

The clotting is from bleeding for a long period of time and the bleeding be heavy. All blood contains a clotting factor. To enable menstrual blood to flow freely from the uterus and leave your body without clotting, the uterus produces an anti-clotting agent. If the menstrual loss is heavy, it is possible that the anti-clotting agent will be used up before a period has finished, so that the remaining blood is likely to form clots.

So at this point talk to your doctor, as Jolessa doesn't appear to be working for you. That's very common to occur for a lot of woman. Plus check with your doctor as you may be anemic from bleeding this long as well.

Hope this helps and gives you a better understanding to what's happening. If you need anything else please feel free to ask. If you found this helpful don't forget to click the *ACCEPT* button and please take a moment to leave me *POSITIVE* feedback.
