I am looking for advice on birth control related to weight gain. I have been on Depo-Provera for 2 years now, and as a result have gained 50 pounds. The thing I loved about it was not getting any periods, and not having to take a pill every day. My sister was also on Depo-Provera and quit all birth control a few months ago, and has lost a lot of weight since then, without any change in eating/exercising habits. The thing I'm not sure about is if I should quit altogether, or switch to Ortho Tri-Cyclen. I previously had really heavy periods before starting the Depo, and I'm not sure if the Ortho Tri-Cyclen would hinder the weight loss from quitting the depo. I am also wondering if I will have any problems with periods or irregular bleeding from quitting the birth control?
