I have been experiencing a large amount of discharge that shows up everytime I use the bathroom, and i dont know why. I have always had a little bit of discharge show from day to day, but not in this form and not in this amount. I have been irregular since my menstruel cycle started, and I was placed on birth control to make them regular, but I stopped taking them the end of last year for personal reasons. Could you please tell me why this could be happening?

Hi,
Watery vaginal discharge can be normal or may be a sign of lichen sclerosis, vaginal wart and other conditions. In very rare cases, this sort of flow may be indicative of cervical cancer.
If the discharge has increased after you have stoped the birth control pills, then this can be due to the change in hormone levels in your body, specially if the amount and consistency of discharge changes over the month.
Lichen sclerosis is a skin condition involving the vulva. Usually other symptoms like itching are associated. Rarely a watery discharge can be the only symptom.
Lastly you might be having vaginal warts or herpes infection.
I would advise you to consult your Ob/gynae for a complete examination to rule out warts or skin infection. If all the other causes are ruled out, then no need to worry. A watery vaginal discharge can be present normally also.
