My periods have been irregular starting in march. I thought ...

Sent to Health Experts August 19, 2007 12:15 a.m.

My periods have been irregular starting in march. I thought I had a pattern figured out, even though its off of my 31 day cycle. It was going like this for example. Lets say i get it aug 1st. Well, sept 14 is when i get it next cycle instead of sept 1st. Then, 2 wks later i'd get it oct 1st, when i should be originally getting it anyway. Too confusing.. ok. It would be 2 wks late one month, but getting it 2 wks early the next. But now I had my period July 14, got it again Aug 2-8. Now on the 18th(today) Im getting it again!! No pain etc. My pap, thyroid and pelvic exam all normal. I was under stress in mar and april and have been experiencing changes since then. BUt now im in a routine and still a little stressed, but not alot. Im guessing stress is causing something to be off, like a hormone. But what would be causing this irregularity? What should I ask the doctor to test for Fri when i go in?

Optional Information:
Female, Age: 26, Pennsylvania

Already Tried:
thyroid normal. They want to test prolactin levels. What is that?

Are you or have you been on any birth control pills and what if any medications are you currently taking, if any? And if you did not supply this in the optional information may I ask before this started in March were your cycles for the most part normal? This will allow me to be of better help to you, thank you.

This is the girl who is trying to get pregnant. Remember? Been talking to you when i could, but you were out for awhile? Im 26, no meds, and never any birth control. They want to put me on it to even out my hormones if it dont straighten out, but im trying to get pregnant lol. What could be causing my period to come 10 days after im done? It keeps happening. Like i said, there was a pattern, but its off that now.

What do they do to level out hormones? Will Bcp straighten it out? If so, what pill is the best? Will it for sure work? After Im off of it, hormones will go back to normal? I know they say you have to wait two months to try to conceive after gettin off one. One doc told me that since my cycles are irregular, then progesterone level will be off anyway an reading would be wrong cuz of it being wrong time in cycle for it.If it isnt hormone level being off, what else could cause every two week periods? Is there any chance I still could be ovulating? How can they check that?

I say im not based on the simple fact that its well known in both sides of family for women to get pregnant right away lol. ANd im mensing every two weeks now. Oh well. Thanks for helping me. Am i still able to get pregnant now if im ovulating?

No I never mind you questions LOL

And yes if you are ovulating even with your cycles are off you are still able to become pregnant and I feel if you try the basil temperature method rather then purchasing a test at this point it would be better for you and it sounds hard but in alot of cases if you do not think about it that is when it happens. So I do think that you should consider the BCP as a temporary way of regulating your cycle and then you would know the days in which it is likely you are ovulating and you can even continue the basil temperature method once they have your cycles regulated and remember the important thing is to not let is get you stressed as that is the worst thing that can alter your cycles. And do let me know if I can be if further help to you please do let me know.
