I've been on birth control fairly regularly

I've been on birth control fairly regularly for about 6 years now. Just recently i skipped one month of pills due to a mix up at my pharmacy. I recently had sex in which the male ejaculated in me. I've heard that when you have been on a contraceptive for a while that it would take longer to get pregnant when off of it. Is that true? How great are the chances of my getting pregnant?
