Question

I'm late a week and a half...

Sent to Health Experts September 20, 2007 9:35 a.m.

I'm a week and a half late for my period. Usually I'm pretty close to being on time. I don't think i'm stressed. I did start a new job about a month and a half ago. Then a week after that I started tanning for 2 weeks. I started in the middle of that. Could the tanning effect it. Also I've begun eating fast food at least once a day for lunch. Could that effect it? I'm almost 21, so I figure my cycle should be pretty normal by now. I weigh about 95 lbs but it's usually on time. For the past few months though, i've been off by about a week only twice I think. Do you think there's something wrong with me? I'm in no pain and showing no signs of PMS as far as I can tell.

Usually tanning does not cause a change in your cycle but sometimes your body can be stressed and go through hormonal changes even if you do not feel stressed. Diet can also cause a change in your cycle and you are low weight so this also could be causing this to occur. If you are having no pain or other signs of or bleeding I would first recommend you take a pregnancy test if you are sexually active to see what the results show and if they do show negative you should consult with your physician about putting you on birth control pills which help greatly for regulating your cycle when your hormones get off track. And even starting a new job can cause minor stress that you may not feel but your body does, so I would monitor it for one more month and if there is still some irregularity you should talk with your physician about a prescription to help regulate your cycles.

Well, I'm not sexually active, so pregnancy is out of the question. I've never ever been this late before. It just worries me. What do you think about taking Vitex?

One more thing...
Do you think I'll start my period soon or is it more likely to just skip this month?
