For approx. 3 wks I have had painful bowel movements. They are diarrea like, except with a bright yellow color and look more like mush. The timing however is normal, about every 3rd day is typical for my bowel movements... except that now it takes about 3 to 4 trips to the bathroom in approx 1 to 2 hrs to finish it. The first feels ok, burns a little.. but by the 2nd or 3rd time it feels like I'm passing GLASS. VERY painful. Only once did I notice any blood on the tissue and it was only a little. Also, for the past 3 days I had severe bloating and abdomal gas(feel like burping to relieve pressure)-but that is subsiding. No change in diet.I am taking 100mg atenolol for mvp and birth control pills daily and I was on erythromycin- 1000mg per day for 10 days thru august 27th... this started about a week after finishing the medication for strep throat. No fever or vomiting. Feeling of fullness, a little nausea at times for small periods but that only began with the bloating a few days ago.

Hi,
Since you are online, could you please give some more information:

Do you have abdominal pain at times other than passing BM?

I am available online to help you further after I get this info.

from research, the best answer I can come up with is c. deficile colitis caused by the antibiotics I was taking. Do you think that is a possibilty?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Any antibiotic is likely to cause diarrhoea with watery stools due to upset of the normal GIT bacterial flora. But the pain during BM is not a part of this. This is unusual and needs to be checked up. Also the blood in the stools.

You have to approach your family physician and get yourself checked up. Any abnormality in BM which presents like this shoud be checked up to rue out more serious causes. The pain could also be due to causes like anal fissure, a small tear in the anal mucosa. Other causes which may be possible are Crohn's disease, Ulcerative colitis, tumors, etc. But you must get checked up to rule these out.

But I believe the pain is directly related to the type of stool I am passing because on the rare occasion (during these past few weeks)that my stool is "normal", it does not hurt at all. Also, it hurts worse the more often I go- not usually the first time of the day. So I am looking more for what is causing the strange colored stool- I believe when that is fixed I wont have any other issues. Do you have any suggestions towards that? Could it be alergies? Thank you so much for your time.
