Hi and I am 41 yrs old. I've been on immuno suppresant drugs (for MS) for the past 11 years. In the last year, my periods have been very, very heavy. As in almost can't leave home and going through boxes of tampons heavy. Anyway, my dr has been trying me on birth control pills to regulate it, but says a lot of the bleeding is from fibroids. This past month, I was taking Yasmin and I had that brownish blood coming through every single day. And then when the placebo started and my "real" period came through, it was again very heavy and full of clots. It has been consistant for 15 days now and I'm getting worried. The dr gave me the ring you wear internally to see if that will help more than the Yasmin. But at this point, I'm not even sure if birth control pills are a good option. Do you have any suggestions?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

At this point - I would discuss with your Ob-Gyn the option of an endometrial ablation. This procedure should reduce (and probably) eliminate menstrual cycle bleeding. It would only be recommended if you NEVER planned on having children (although it is still possible in a FEW rare cases to get pregnant.

Here is information on this procedure.
