Does having a shorter period mean IM pregnant

My period lasts 5 days, but it only lasted 3 and I've been taking birth control for about 4 months now.

Hello,

If your period was at the regular time, was bright red blood, and went from light to heavy to light, then you most likely are not pregnant. especially since you are taking birth control. One side effect of oral contraceptives is that they tend to make periods a little shorter and lighter.

My period was about 3 days late and it wasn't a bright red it was a darker red. When it ended, I had really bad abdominal pains and felt sick.

Darker blood is older blood, so I wouldn't be concerned about this at all. During the first few months of pill usage you may be off by a few days in either direction. It's nothing to worry about.
