concerned about heart

i have high blood presure and a rapid heart beat.i am concerned about this.once in awhile i have chest pain.my dr.gave me toprol xl,but the rate hasn't come down,it went up to 103 from 102.my b/p stays around 147/100.i am 43,with heart problems in my family.my sister died at 38 from a masive heart attack.can you please give me some advise on what to do? should i seek another dr.? thank you,beth robertson
