pressure changes between 90 and 160. She takes medication only when her pressure is really high, she doesn't take it when it's normal. She takes Lysnoperil, no other medications

Hello,

Hypertension is a diagnosis which is either you have it or you don't have it. One cannot have it off and on, usually. So taking blood pressure medications on the SOS basis is not justified. If you feel that her blood pressure falls down due to the medication, her doctor should be informed. May be he will consider changing the medication from Lisinopril to something else, which can give her a persistent normal blood pressure. Taking as and when required (we take pain medication like that) can be wrong and can cause complications like a sudden very high BP or very low BP.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free for your follow up questions or if you want to discuss it further.
