Sent to Health Experts May 04 05:05 PM

I am on medication for high blood pressure {Dyazide} and lately when I eat something with a lot of sodium I get dizzy and can't eat it. What is this??

I have reviewed dyazide (which is actually a combination of two anti-hypertensive medications) and in all of the clinical trials data, there are no reports of either medication that comprise it causing any sort of symptom like this, or a change in taste even (which can occur with certain meds). So I don't believe that it is related to dyazide.

I am sure that you are aware, however, that since you have high blood pressure (I also have it so I'm aware too) you should avoid foods with a lot of sodium. Sodium has a tendency to elevate the blood pressure, so try and keep it out of your diet (almost impossible), or at least minimize the amount you take in. So I would advise you to avoid sodium for both reasons then, but as to why this is occuring, it is a bit of a mystery.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Take care.
