My husband's testicle began to swell and cause him

My husband's testicle began to swell and cause him pain yesterday at 6 am. He went to the dr. at 10 and they seemed to blow it off. His white blood count was up (he had been ill 2 days previous) his blood pressure was 140, his right testicle was swollen and causing him pain, painful and frequent urination, and his lower abdomen is hurting as well. He had emergency surgery when he was 10 for VERY similar symptoms. His doctor told him it was "probably" a pulled groin muscle. If I take him to the ER, we would have to travel 45 miles to the nearest decent one, and we can't afford the bill...But if he has to go, we have to go. I hate to see him in pain and I am REALLY concerned for his health. What should I do?

Hello,

I would get a second opuinion with a urologist on Monday. It could be more serious than a "pulled groin" muscle. As his WBC is up, he obviusly has an infection, which would not be a symptom of a "pulled groin muscle".

He could have prostatitis or epididymitis. If he is in a lot of disress and pain, then head to the ER, but if he can wait, a work-up and treament with a urologist would be best.

I will be here on an off all weekend, you can keep in touch and let me know how things are.
