We think my sister -in-law has something called PODS....please explain and what should she be doing she is not getting very good medical attention and she has fallen and had 21 concusions we are freaked out but don't know what to do. PLEASE HELP! Her symptoms are... she can't stand up because when she does her blood pressure shoots up and she faints, she has short term memory loss, and now is having burred vision and headaches ( I realize 21 concusions would also cause some of these symptoms but we cannot get through to anyone) Thanks you. Kim

I assume that the neurologist has done an EEG to rule out seizure as the cause of her problem. If the blood pressure shoot up and then down causing the fall, it sounds like a problem with autonomic nervous system regulation. I would recommend a consultation at the Barrow Neurologic Institute in Phoenix or at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale for evaluation and possible treatment. There may be some way of regulating her autonomic nervous system with medication. A neurosurgeon may need to be involved for either vagus nerve stimulator or possibly deep brain stimualtion if there is any role for either modality in the treatment. Barrow Neurologic Institute is internationally known for its excellence. I hope that this was helpful.

You'll have to tell me what PODS stands for and then I can explain.

Reply to D. Baron, MD's Post: I apologize I do not know what it stands for I thought that was the medical terminology and you would know.
When she refers to her condition that is what she calls it and I was hoping you could explain it to me.
