My husband just saw a "Nutritionist"., thru our insurance. He is 67
yrs old & weighs about 300 lbs..he has high b/p & copd.
This girl gave him a 1,500 calorie a day diet plan. I think thats just
too little fuel for him.
am I wrong?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

1500 calories a day may be a weight reduction diet, but it is enough calories. At 300 lbs., it sounds like he needs to lose weight to help both his blood pressure and his breathing. It's not too little fuel for him. He got to 300 lb by eating too much "fuel".

Relist: I prefer a second opinion.
I feel 1500 calories a day for a working man, 67 yrs
old, is not enough. He's a big guy with a weight
problem but 1500 calories is gonna leave him weak,
not thinner.

Hi, Liz,

How many calories do you think your husband should eat?

HI...I THINK 2000 CALORIES WOULD HELP HIM LOSE
WEIGHT WITHOUT FEELING WEAK..ALSO, IT WOULD BE
ENOUGH SO HE DOESN'T START TO FEEL DEFEATED BY
THE PROCESS.
FOR INSTANCE, THIS NUTRITIONIST SAID 1/2 A BANANA
A DAY...HE EATS ONE BANANA A DAY TO HELP GET HIS
MEDS DOWN, AND FOR POTASSIUM...SURELY 1 BANADA
A DAY IS O.K. ??
