i am sorry-ithought i was finished bothering ya'll at night. i had back surgery (as referenced in alot of last questions) and now am doing better and then developed kidney infection -will get culture reading monday, i have high blood pressure that stays under control with 3 medications for last 15 years. there are those weird times that it shoots up and i am taught to put a pin hole in a procardia capsule and but under my tongue which brings it down. i am lucky in that i have symtom of bad headache when it gets way too high. if it goes over 105 on the bottom i am to do it, --for the second night i had the headache i thought maybe its hi blod pressure. i took it(with digital) and it read 166/122 --took the other arm later and it read 166/115. my question is this. though i plug it in the wall i know this isn't as good as dr's kind of taking it. i need to know if i take the procardia and the blood pressure reading is wrong will the med hurt me. sorry to bug u again.

this rarely happens. but i am usually alone and at night when it does so i always doubt what to do. now don't fret, it doesn't scare me,,,actually the headache is the uncomfortable part--never have them,,,so glad i at least remembered it might be my bld prsr. i have been taught to take it every so often for last 20 years but usually check it once every year if no problems..this happened about a year ago and went to emer. room and it took them 3 hours of tests just to give me the procardia--which i had run out of at the time...since writing you i have been doing relaxation which i do quite well but haven't chk bld prsr yet..i feel silly doing it.

Most physicians do not currently use Procardia, because of concerns over safety. This treatment for rapidly reducing blood pressure has for the most part been discontinued.

I would suggest going to the ER
