Whar Causes a blood vessel to break in your eye and how serious is it, should I go to the er or can it wait until monday? Thank You Leigh

Hello, if the white of the has become red without any evidence of infection, it is called 'subconjunctival haemorrhage'. This could be due to hypertension or raised blood pressure. It can also be seen during excessive strenous exercise, undue straining at stool etc. It is not very serious if it is not increasing in size and will disappear after about two weeks time if you use eyedrops or artificial tear drops for soothing. You donot have to go to ER if you are not having a recurrent eye bleed.Read more here
