i recently had a blister on the interior part of my big toe. It appears to have become infected so my PCP gave me an antibiotic however the toe feels like it is not receving enough blood flow or in the mornings it feels as if all the blood in my body is rushing into that toe. It looks almost a deep purple color around the entire toe from the infected area to the bottom of the big toe. I do not have pain in the foot just the affected toe. However in the middle of the night I awaken with the same feeling of lack of blood flow. I am concerned that there is something more than a simple infection causing this. I would appreciate your counsel.

Reply to Dr Anil Kumar's Post: I don't have a history of diabetes and my glucose count is 102 from a recent test. There is no swelling in the leg but the foot does swell a little in the AM when I first become active. I am HIV negative and have no other systemic illness. symptoms have been about two weeks. antibiotics don't seem to be helping clear up the area that looks infected. There is a deep black/purple area in the most sensitive part of the sore. It doesn't appear to be blood because i have bandaged the area for comfort and no blood is on the dressing when I change it.

Thanks for the reply .
In my opinion since you are not improving with antibiotics you need to be seen by a specialist at a higher center or a dermatologist .
Further clinical test should be required to rule out Vasculitis with secondary infection .
