For the last year or so my salivary gland has swollen up and reduced. The ENT at one point tried to drive the blockage out by applying significant pressure under my chin at the back of my jaw bone. although he was able to force a half cup of thick saliva out the swelling never completely went away. Since then it has acted up twice several months apart. About a month ago it started again but unlike before thier was far more pain. Pain unaltered by pain killers which almost drove me to the emergency room twice. The pain seemed to be most prominent in the eardrum, temple, and nap of neck. 20 days of 875 augmentine begot pain relief for the most terrible pain around day 30. I was also able to spit a substantial amount of brown/yellow & thick clear saliva. Later day 35 red blood was present in the saliva which over a couple of days became pink saliva. aproximately day 40 I still have swelling, terrible pain has gone with just the normal pain under my touge of the blocked duct. Still have brown / yellow in the saliva, but I can eat unlike the 3 week period I was unable to and lost 25lbs. Question do your sinuses empty into your salivary glands? If they do could my sinuses be infected and reinfecting the gland? Should i be on another course of antibiotics? How dangerouse nerve damage wise is it ti surgically remove a inflamed salavary gland under the chin beneath the temple? Just so you understand I fractured my spine C3,C4,C5 and sat my cervicals on top of my spine. I understand pain and at it's wost I would say this was a full 80% of that. I want to make sure that I do not have to revisit this as the pain can be continouse and last for 30 to 120minutes. It can happen several times a day depending on if my body elects to introduce saliva into a close system.
