Rationale: Take lots of "normal" people (we use medical, dental, and nursing students) and analyze the blood samples. The mean ±2 standard deviations is considered to be the expected range.

I'm including links that should answer any questions you have. There are books in medical-nursing libraries that will provide extensive detail about clinical implcations.

Don't stay up all night. When is the paper due? (If you're not a student, forgive my levity. We get a lot of late night requests for last-minute help.)

Reply to Teaching Doc's Post: I am a nursing student..I am looking for answers such as ex: For sodium the range is 135-145mmol/L
High values may indicate: disturbances of extracellular fluid, disturbances of water balance and etc.
Nursing implication: to monitor I & O's, risk for seizures, & neurologic sx.

Can you find for me or post these types of high & llow values for the ones I previously listed. Thank you.
