I have had 5 bouts of acute bronchitis in the last 3-4 years. I am a 56 yr old male, non smoker, although I do puff on the occasional cigar--1-2/month. I read about a drug called broncostat. It is a vaccine that is supposed to work to prevent bronchitis. Do you have any information on this and do you think it works?

Optional Information:
Male, Age: 56, Colorado

Already Tried:
Inhalers, antibiotics, decongestants, allergy stuff, you name it.

Broncostat is a vaccine developed in Australia which is claimed by the manufacturer to reduce bronchitis by upto 90%.

However, it has not yet been fully accepted. No significant independant study has been done yet on this vaccine. This of course does not mean that it is a fly by night operation, both the compay and the researcher are reputed organisations.

However, doubts have been expressed on the actual validity of this vaccine. I am not aware as to whether it is available in the US, to the best of my knowledge it is not approved by FDA and is not available.

However, it is not a fraud by any means, and you can discuss this with your doctor as to whether you can use this vaccine.

Thanks. I was wondering why it wasn't mentioned anywhere other than Australia. I will ask my doctor if he can prescribe it.
