Is it possible to have crohns disease as a result of e. coli?
Sent to Health Experts September 04 03:28 PM

I was a nursing student and was exposed to a elderly male who was bed -written for 5 years,(he could not speak or communicate in any way)patient with e. coli. I was unable to have his medical chart and was not told the patient was thought to have e. coli. My clinical began at 6:50a.m. to 10:20 a.m.. During this time I cared for patient he had a bowel movementwhile bathing him on sheets He had a bad cough and coughed in my face several times. I wore gloves while bathing him . He had decubuti ulcers to bone, spondolytic anklylosis, pnemmonia, a bad cough. I found out at 10:10 a.m.and my instructor said she thought that someone had told me. She said he had tested positive for e. coli . I responded, "Isn't e. coli contagious"? She said, yes. But, I don't think you have anything to worry about. The guy that took care of him yesterday is fine. She looked a the little note that was on top of his chart that read gram positive (although e. coli is gram neg.)testing. She flipped through his chart and found that the nurse had forgot to document the information in the chart. The Nursing leaving the shift was called to work that floor that night because they were short nurses. You will be fine. Two days later I began feeling flu like ill. I went to the Dr. and told him about my exposure and that I was not feeling well. I was given antibiotics Tequin. Still sick, went to my EE&T Dr. he said I had a bad case of bronchitis and put me on antibiotics and have me a cortisone shot. After my antibiotics treatment I still wasn't feeling well. I had occasional stomach aches but at day 21 I went back to Dr. with excruciating stomach pain and bloody stool. He gave me a prescription of Cipro. After I got home the pain was so bad I could not walk due to extreme stomach pains and straight red blood pouring out my rectum. My fiance' rushed me to the hospital. I told the Dr. about my exposure to e.coli and he said that he was going to first test me for c. difficule. I was admitted due to severe dehydration and infectious colitis.
We'll the hospital I went to was the same hospital I was doing my clinical at. The Doctor did not do a specific test for e. coli as I asked him to. I tested positive for an organism but they did not identify what type.
About 9 to 10 weeks later I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease markers 99% from Promethus Lab.
I was ill and still am for quite some time. No one in my family has Crohn's Disease and I am not of jewish decent.
I have been extremly ill the past four years. My pulse rate had went up to 160 when I first became ill, leucocytosis. I was found to have mitral valve prolapse. But, my pulse rate has never gone below 100 for the past 4 years.   I have fibromyalgia, asthma, had recurrent bronchitis for 2 years, have been having sinusitis for 3.5 years. I caught bells palsay 3 times, myofascial syndrome, infected scalp, now bipolar and depression and have had a list of illness and still battling alot of the. It has been four years and I have been seeking litigation. I must get a medical expert report for a court hearing coming up.
My situation is complicated and I am prepared to send my medical records for confirmation of the possible connection. I will pay for Gastro or Infectious Disease Expert report to substantiate my claim. I am prepared to pay for my facts.
