I was diagnoised with bone cancer in June 2007. I had surgery in August 2007 to remove the tumor called Chondromyxoid Fibroma on my left hip iliac/pelvis. They removed just under 40% of my hip/pelvis area. I am having a lot of pain now in the same area and nothing I do or medicines seems to help. The Oncologist has done a new MRI, CT Scan and X-Rays. The finding of the MRI are: There is heterotopic ossification in the adjacent soft tissues, with mild surrounding reactive edema. There are no areas of definite abnormal enhancement. Can you please tell me what the correction will be for the heterotopic ossicication will be? Can you also explain to me in more laimons terms what heterotopic ossiciation is and could it have been prevented?
