cAN I GET A CERVICAL BIOPSY WHILE PREGNANT?
Sent to Health Experts July 22 04:17 PM

I am 29. When I was about 17 I had an abnormal pap that my doctor said was mild cervical dysplasia. I just had a pap last week and she said I had mild cervical dysplasia again. When I was 17 I had a biopsy and it was negative. my doctor has scheduled another biopsy for Aug 2nd. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby. I will ovulating next Tuesday approximately. Because the cervical biopsy is scheduled exactly a week from next Tuesday and I do get pregnant would I risk damanging the fetus because I would be about a week pregnant?

The cervical biopsy should not interfere with your pregnancy, especially at such an early stage.   But for example, if you were 7 months pregnant, you probably wouldn't have a cervical biopsy done at that time due to a number of factors, including the possibility of inducing labor.

Of course, please bring up your concern with your doctor, who will be able to assess all the facts and give you advice.
