Question

BREAST PAIN & SWELLING

Sent to Health Experts August 23, 2005 10:06 p.m.

I'm 37 years old. For the past 5 months my left breast has been giving me trouble, I.E., pain (ranging from stabbing to dull), swelling (left breast is at least 1/2 a cup size bigger)and a warm feeling. This morning my breast was so swollen I called my doctor. He advised that women who have breast cancer don't have swollen breasts and to wait to see what the Mamo says. He didn't feel any lumps, and neither do I, when he did the breast exam. While that makes me feel better, I've read all the articles about IBC. I'm schedule for a Mamo next week, but I'm scared to death and about ready to run to the nearest emergency room. My son is 9 years old so I'm sure it's not from breast feeding. Is there any other reason, other then IBC, that would give me these symptoms? My mother and grandmother went through menopause very early. My mother was completly finished by the time she was 48. I'm wondering if I'm staring to enter that stage now. Let me know what you think. Thanks. Kim
