my 13 year old son had a ear infecntion about ...

my 13 year old son had a ear infecntion about nine days ago.He was put on augmentin .And his ear is back to normal,But the lymph node under his jaw on the same side as the infectoin was. Is still swollen to about one inch long and sore to the touch. I think I may be over worring this one. Becouse we just had a friend,who had a lump in the neck that was cancer!!! Please help Thank you,Jennifer

It may take up to 2 weeks the swollen lymphnode to go down. Usually if it is tender it is not a cancer. If it is not tender an the swelling does not disappear then a biopsy is needed to find out if it is cancer or not. I suggest to you to inform your health care provider about the swelling and if the swelling doesnt go away make an appointment to see her or him.
