What are the units in the test? PSA test is usually reported as ng/ml. 1130 ng/ml doesn't sound right. Are you sure that was a PSA result?

Here is answer I received regarding what the count reflects. “1130 is his PSA count which is his prostate saturation antigen. He is a stage 4 where there has been bone metastases and it is already all throughout his lymph node system. Dr. -------- said his cancer is acting more like an aggressive dangerous cancer than the slow growing prostate but that it is prostate because of the PSA numbers. Dr. ----- had to go to a chemo solution, which now isn't working so he is on a stronger one plus the Fentanyl patch.

PSA above 20ng/ml is indicative of a cancer process going on. If his PSA is 1130, that is extremely high and the prognosis is probably pretty poor. The doctor is correct in his assessment. Prostate cancer is usually not that aggressive and normally has reasonably long survival when compared to other cancers. I don't think that will be the case for your friend. All you can do is hope that the new chemotherapeutic regimen is helpful. I suspect that he is either on testosterone blockers or has had orchiectomy (castration) to reduce testosterone. I'm sorry that I couldn't be more encouraging. I hope that this was helpful.
