Reply to Doctor_Manju's Post: There has not been any changes and she has not complained of pain. When she goes to her primary care doctor (about every 3 months)he does not examine her breasts. She was diagnosed with alzheimer's about 2 years ago. The mammogram is a test that is routinely performed.

Would surgery and radiation be a typical solution for a frail woman with alzheimer's if she had cancer? Could she just be "kept comfortable"?

Hello

In a research done alzeimers disease patients receive less treatment for breast cancer than do comparable female Medicare beneficiaries. Chemotherapy and radiation are administered less frequently to women with alzeimer's disease than to other comparable patients. If cancer is found out, then a consultation of oncologist is required about the treatment option. It varies according to number of factors.
