My 36 y.o. partner is undergoing extensive treatment for recurrent Stage 1A grade 3 clear cell poorly differentiated endometrial cancer. She just finished a series of radiation treatments a week ago and we will be starting chemo week after next. My question is two fold: there is now a malodorous vaginal discharge and further, is this type of cancer beatable?

Optional Information:
Female, Age: 35, California

Already Tried:
Full radical hysterectomy, radiation and now chemo

The vaginal discharge is to be expected. Because of the radiotherapy, the endometrial lining will be destroyed, and it is this lysed part of the lining which comes out as discharge, you should not worry about this. Still, you must mention it when you meet your doctor next.

The chances for Stage 1a are very good. The cure rate is 90%. This means that 9 out of 10 women who have this 'beat' it. So you can be quite confident of a cure. specially in view of the fact that you are receiving aggressive treatment with all three modalities of treatment.

Thank you so much-

You have no idea how much good this does my heart. We have agonized over this situation since May when she was first diagnosed and then when teh cancer showed up again just two short months after she was declared clear of it, it was a devastating blow. Feels like we are getting kicked in teh stomach everytime we go back for another visit. Thank you for the 90% statistic... We are a young family with much to live for, not the least are our two children an 8yo and 10 yo. THank you... THank you and Bless you
