I was having pain in my leg, like a pinched nerve. Had x-rays, but it didn't show anything. So they did MRI which showed a herniated disc L4 L5 which is pinching the nerve, but then the doctor says it also shows these white leasions. I asked what are they, he didn't really didn't have an answer, except it could be cancer!. The only treatment was phyical therapy and a bone density test and he would see me again in 4 weeks. As he couldn't explain what they leasions and mentioned cancer in the same sentence, I didn't lease his office with a very warm fuzzy feeling.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Hi

It would be hard to say what the white lesions are without knowing the specifics, At time white lesions on an MRI can be an indications of damaged white matter or an indication of Multiple Sclerosis. At time a radiologist may come to the conclusion that they may be Unidenfied Bright Objects.
Physical therapy will only help to built strong muscles in order to keep the discs in place.
I am sure you feel uneasy about the answer your physician has given you, and I would suggest you get a second opinion, you not need a second MRI, you can request the films where you had it done and have it read by another radiologist.
I am sorry that I cannot give you a more definite answer, however it is hard without knowing the specific of the findings.

Best wishes..
