I am experiencing a soreness deeper down the throat than a normal sore throat. It doesn't hurt all of the time, but is triggered by neck movement, especially tilting my head down. I wake up at times hoarse, but not every morning. The pain is not constant. I have family history of thyroid issues. What areas should I research online?

Can you give me more information about your age and gender.

How long has this been a problem? Does it affect your ability to swallow fluid or solids?

How is your general health? Do you take any medication?

Are you a smoker? Any history of cough or coughing up blood?

Any chest pain or pain on breathing in?

Is there any lumps on your neck?
