I am a 39 yr old F with a family history of heart disaese.Last Tues night I went to ER with chest pain in center of chest, left arm. between shoulder blades and around left breast area. Admitted to hosp. for about 18 hrs. diagnosed pnuemonia(but have not had any cold symptoms,or coughing)did a series of heart test seen a cardioligist. Rx for metoprolol 25mg 1/day asprin 81mg 1/day continue to have chest pain constant (not severe) and constant in between shoulder blades (not severe) some in left arm area . got a letter im the mail that my cardiolite stress test indicated I need a appointment with my doctor. I already have an appt. with family dr 4/17 and cardiologist 4/24. My question is with the constant pain in the center of my chest and my shoulders would it be wise to wait for the appointments or should I be seen sooner. Both doctors are out of the office this week, don't want to incur another ER bill if its not necessary. The constant pain worries me. Pain rate scale 1-10 is 6-7

Even if you have not experienced any coughing when it comes to pneumonia it affects the chest and the will not show any signs of a cold either since colds are viral infections and pneumonia is considered a bacterial infection and if this is turning into pleuracy this will increase the chest pain as this is considered fluid on the lungs. You pain level is high and with your family history I do feel that you should not wait especially if you are also having problems with left arm numbness and pain also. I know it is hard to deal with another hospital bill they do need to perform another x-ray to see if this has turned into pleuracy which would make your high pain level less chance of a cardiac issue and explain the pains in your chest. They can also treat your pain level and perform an MRI to determine if there is now fluid in your chest from the pneumonia and also show why you are having such difficulties with your pain level and also start you on stronger medicatons and also allow them to run the proper tests so they can send the results to both your family doctor and your cardiologist also. Possible cardiac issues are not anything to take chances with and also you do need to be able to have some pain relief as well to help lessen your high level of pain which is too high to have to deal with until your schduled visits.
