How long can one carry Chlamydia w/o signs?

My wife and I have been together for 3 years and married for two. Is it possible to carry Chlamydia for a period of 2-3 years with no signs, and then pass it on to someone? She was tested at birth of our daughter and there's been no straying.. trying to narrow down the possibilities
