I was diagnosed with chlamydia this past November. I have had one sexual partner for the past four years. So I know I must have gotten it from him. Question is: Is this something he could have had for a long time - say since the beginning of our relationship, but didn't pass it along until this past november. Or is this something he could have ONLY got recently and passed it to me when we had intercourse?

There is no way to possibly know.   He may have had it for quite some time and was not aware of the symptoms or they were minimal and he did not notice. I know you are wondering if he "cheated" on youl however it is best to have a calm conversation with him.
