I have ulcerative colitis and take Colazal, Mercaptopurine, ...

I have ulcerative colitis and take Colazal, Mercaptopurine, and at the present, 20mg of Prednisone a day(recent flare-up). My family physician ,as a result of a recent blood test, has prescribed Lipitor for high cholesterol(250). My questions are, is it ok to be taking Lipitor i combination with the other drugs I am taking for my ulcrative colitis, and should I be concerned about all the negative things I have read on the internet about statin drugs? Thank you!
