Sent to Health Experts October 21, 2006 9:58 p.m.

I have enlarged lymph nodes in my groin for no reason. I have also been have pain on my upper right side near my rib cage. I went to my Gast. Dr. He felt my liver, said nothing and he told me they had found that I have a greasy/fatty liver, they found this on a ultrsound. He had found this out nine months ago, but had not told me until I came to see him again two days ago. He has ordered a CT and blood work. I just did a CBC and it looked fine.
I am a non drinker, two drinks a year. I am 5/6 and weigh 122lbs. I do not have diabetes. Why would I have a fatty liver? What else could cause this problem? Please write. Thank you for your help. LK

REPLIED Check Mark

Hello,

I am practising ultra sonography for more than 20 years whenever I saw a case of greasy fatty liver the patient was grossly overweight & there blood cholesterol levels were mostly increased & the patients were usually lethargic. I therefore request a repeat ultrasonography examination from a different radiologist to confirm or refute the diagnosis.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Hello,

It is not possible to give an opinion without seeing the ultrasound pictures but when you have a low cholesterol level the chances of greasy fatty liver are markedly reduced.
