Hi, my friend is experiencing intense cramping in which he receives sharp pains that are coming in waves for at least the last hour. They began in the middle of his stomach near the area of his belly button and have moved upward. They are currently in-between and below his rib-cage î º about to the areas where his rib-cage begins, but not under it.

At first we thought it is indigestion, but he doesn't have nausea, burps, gas, or feel the need to go #2 or throw-up. He has been taking Pepto-Bismol, but it hasn't helped.

Do you think he should go to the ER?
