I'm in my third trimester and I had some spotting, but only that one time, could that be a sign labor has started with all the pain I've been having?

REPLIED Check Mark

You don't state how far into your 3rd trimester you are at. It could have been part of your mucus plug that you have lost. Was it just pure blood or kind of like a discharge? Generally in the last part of the 3rd trimester one will lose their mucus plug, which is just your body getting ready for the baby.

im about 34 weeks, I don't think I lost my mucus plug yet that I have noticed. It was just blood and it was only that one time when I noticed it when I went to the bathroom. I work as a CNA and on my feet for 8 hours and doing a lot of active work, could it be something serious or start of labor?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

it's most likely to be just a sign that the cervix is beginning to soften, maybe even dilate. You don't mention any cramping or anything so that is good too. Since you are on your feet for 8 hours, I would at least give your OB doctors office a call this morning to let them know. They may have you come in and just check your cervix to see what may be going on. But with it being that one time only as you state, I would think it's due to your cervix and getting ready for the baby, which can happen anywhere from weeks to days prior to delivery. But just to be safe.. and for your own piece of mind, do give the office a call.

Hope that helps.
