Hi! I'm just curious if someone might have an idea of what might be going on with me. A history of my problem... I'm 34 and have had 6 pgs, 4 living children. I had our fourth, a son, almost a year ago - prior to conceiving him, (and this only happened between my third and fourth children, though the second miscarriage was between the two) whenever I'd ovulate on my right side, I knew it due to some achiness in that area that soon subsided within a couple of days. The month he was conceived was one such month, but the achiness never left, even a couple weeks later when finding out I was pregnant. (It had lessened a bit before taking a pg test but then increased not long after). I got concerned that maybe it was an ectopic pg and got in to see the dr. right away. They did a vaginal ultrasound but didn't see anything wrong with my ovaries or tubes. Relieved, I just went on, hoping it'd go away. It subsided the farther along I got, but then came back to what was a pain by the time I was in my third trimester. I asked my dr. if it might be an appendicitis or what? but it wasn't something they seriously considered. I was told it was likely the baby's weight pulling some ligaments and if it was anything else, they'd look further into it after my son's birth as anything then wouldn't be conclusive, seeing as he was pushing my organs "out of view"... after his birth, it continued to hurt, more at times than others, and my Gen. Phy. ended up ordering an abdominal cat scan (as she was thinking maybe IBS) about 3 months post-partum... even with dye injected, nothing showed up, and was told that since I was nursing, I couldn't be put on any medication they'd try on me. Again, somewhat relieved, I dealt with it... it didn't get any worse but not a whole lot better. I quit nursing about a couple of months ago, and if I hadn't before, had quite certainly ovulated as my rt. side pain got a bit worse due to it, and had my first post-partum period the last week of Feb. What's weird is I don't think I have any other symptoms... occasional diarrhea (have been lactose intolerant though) and occasional constipation (bananas do that), and I haven't been able to lie in bed on my left side or my abdomen starts cramping (which were sharp stabs when I was pg) and upon switching to my right side or sitting up, it takes an hour or more of gas to relieve the cramping. So odd to me. When I ovulated this month, it was pretty painful on my right side again (making me a bit nauseated from it) and took several days to slowly "calm down"... and it still aches, being a couple of weeks later. I'm planning on making another appointment with my dr. to have it checked out again but I'll be so frustrated if they can't "find anything" again... this can't be normal, even for being 34, can it? I've never heard of anything like this being a sign of getting older and I don't want to live with this for always... it's worsening a bit so I don't want any damage done or worse. I'm sorry to have gone on but does anyone have any thoughts I could maybe take to my dr. or investigate on my own? Thanks for anything! HM
