very light bleeding and cramping between period
Sent to Health Experts May 31 11:05 PM

I am 40 years old and have been experiencing some bleeding and cramping between my period. I have to take tylenol and feel bloated. Is it really necessary to see a doctor? I was just there a few weeks ago for a resistant yeast infection.
Thanks very much.

Hello

The most common cause of spotting or bleeding between periods is infection. If it doesn't resolve soon, I'm afraid you should probably return to your doctor for further testing. Also, continued spotting will place you more at risk for anemia, so this should be followed up on to find the cause.

Reply to Kerry's Post: What kind of infection could it be so that I can do some research on the internet? Also is it possible that it is nothing? The bleeding/spotting is quite light. I am mostly upset about the cramping. It makes me want to be inactive, and that's not good since I have a 20 month old.

It could be a bacterial infection, or a yeast infection. That being said, I've been doing more research for you and came up with the following web sites that may help you as well. These list other possibilities for your symptoms too.
