My husband is having severe stomach cramps that come and go ...

Sent to Health Experts August 15, 2006 4:21 p.m.

My husband is having severe stomach cramps that come and go (for 3 days now), diarhea, headaches and some dizziness when first getting up. What could this be? He has no fever or vomiting. He has an area around his right breast/lower armpit area that has apprx. 6-8 bug bites that he got when he was sleeping. His symptoms stated shortly thereafter. However the bites are not that of a black widow or brown recluse. What should we do?

This does not sound related to the bites and sounds more like colonitis or an intestional tract disorder such as IBS. He should be seen if this has gone on for three days and the cramping is pretty severe, as they need to run some tests and do further evaluation and may even want to do a colonoscopy as well. He should try some Pepto-bismol and see if this helps along with a bland diet which does not effect the intestional tract so much like cooked rice and/or boiled chicken or beef which can allow the intestional tract to recover. If these tips are not successful then he should be seen so they can do some bloodwork and a fecal occult test to determine what is going on within his intestional tract.
