My boyfriend and I had sex the day before I was supposed to ...

Sent to Health Experts August 29, 2006 6:03 p.m.

My boyfriend and I had sex the day before I was supposed to ovulate. We started with a condom and them he took it off . He never ejcaulated. I'm now four days late and have had cramping and all the symptoms that I usually get before my period but it hasn't shown up. We are not on a form on bc at the moment. I'm starting depo in month or so. If you have any answers for me that would be great.

Thanks!

If your question is can I be pregnant? then the answer is yes.

Ejaculation is not required.

You need to do a test.....

I did take a test this morning when I woke up and it was negative. Do I need to wait longer to test. I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow. Do you any suggestions as to what else it could be besides pregnancy?

Hi

Yes it is worth repeating the test in one week assuming you do not start your period by then.

Lots of things can delay a period

stress
anxiety
too much exercise
rapid weight loss
thyroid disorders
etc etc etc.

I'd only see your Dr if they stoppeed for a few months for no good reason.

This is the last thing I want to know. If it turns out that I'm pregnant how long will it take for me to get a positive pregnany test?

Hi

Most tests are postitive after you have missed a period.

This is however not always true - hence worth repeatng in a week.

If you cannot wait that long you do need to speak to your Dr to get a blood HCG done.
