My wife is 9 weeks pregnant and has complained a couple of times about having cloudiness in her stool. What is this? Should I be concerned?

Reply to Cheryl K.'s Post: She is on Pre-natal vitamins and calcium tablets. She said she has no cramping before/after movements.

Thank you for that information and no right now there is no worry since she has started the pre-natal vitamins and is not experiencing any bowel movement changes or pain in her abdomen especially right before she has a bowel movement. The vitamins can cause this in some women although it is not a common side effect it is one that can occur and taking that into effect as well as the fact her body is going through so many changes just becoming pregnant at this time it is not something she needs to be overly worried about but it is something that she does want to mention to her OB/GYN at her next visit so on the safe side they can run a fecal occult test which she will bring home to do just to rule out any abnormal levels in her intestional tract but I have seen many women myself who have had bowel movement consistancy changes due to the pre-natal vitamins so this is most likely the cause.

No this would not be a sign of an STD or HIV, now there would be more worry towards that if this were not limited to her bowel movements but you would see a rash, sores, or other vaginal issues if this were likely related to an STD or HIV but this is more of an issue with the vitamins and the fact she is going through body changes being pregnant.

Reply to Cheryl K.'s Post: The only other issue she has had is once that we know of, after oral sex, she had an excessive amount of discharge that was greenish. Now, she has no other symtoms of anything. No burning, sores, rashes, vaginal bumps, anything. I know she would have to be checked for sure, but what are your thoughts? The discharge only happened after oral sex, not traditional sex. And every other time she pees or has a discharge, it is normal color.

Now some women do excrete more discharge when they are having oral or even regiular sexual interourse and unlike men it is actually harder for a women to turn off her urine flow than a man and in some cases green or yellow is a sign of an infection but if she has no burning, sores, rashes and this only occurs during oral sex I would relate it to that and not an STD or HIV. I would since she is pregnant though and being seen by a physician have her ask them to run a seperate bood and urine screen to rule out any chance that she may have any infection present but in most cases you see more signs and a bacterial infection becomes worse through time without medication.
