I have a paiful tooth. There is no reason for the pain. My dentist says that it is just because the has a new filling in it, but the filling has been in for a few months now. Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Hello

Pain results from something pinching on a nerve. I would again call the dentist and tell him/her that this pain continues and that something needs to be done about it. Tell them it has gone on for a couple months.

You may need to have the filling re-done.

Hope that helps,

Kerry

Reply to Kerry's Post: The pain only started a few days ago. the filling has been in for a few months now. My dentist took an xray and he says there is nothing wrong and that the pain should go away in 4 to 6 weeks. I can't live with the pain that long. It is horrible. I can't bite down at all.

Then you need to call the dentist back and tell him you cannot handle the extreme pain for 4-6 weeks. If you are not satisfied with his answers, ask to be seen by a different dentist.

If there was nothing wrong, you would not be having pain.

You may have to be assertive, but you do not have to live like this with this pain.
