I have had face pain for about two weeks. I had a dentist visit
a week ago, thinking that it was a tooth issue. My teeth are very sensitive to hot and cold and I started brushing with a different
toothpast. But now i actually have pain in my face bones and around
my nose. Also about once a month, the left gum swells up.

When you went to the dentist what did the dentist do?

Have you had any x ray or scans?

Did you start any medication?

The dentist filled the top tooth in the back and ground down a chip in the bottom. I did

have exrays. I have not started any new medication but have increased my Lipitor from

ten grams to twenty.

REPLIED Check Mark

I would return to your dentist for scans and x rays of both the teeth and sinus cavities. The fact that your gum swells up monthly indicates that you may have an abscess and if this has broken into the sinus cavity then this can give rise to the symptoms that you are experiencing at the moment.

Ibuprofen 400mg three times daily would be my recommended painkiller as this reduces swelling as well as pain. Rinsing with salt water may help drain the abscess. But if it is an infection then you will need antibiotics.

I have had abcesses before and this does not act like one. It comes and goes. I

already had the xrays and the dentist shrugged it off.
