(Not a Health Question?)

Stepson is a loner.

My stepson stays in his room alone almost constantly when he is not at work. He is 22 years old.   He drinks alone, eats alone, talks to himself, sings to himself, swears at the TV. He rarely come out of the room when my companion and I are at home. He rarely makes eye contact with anyone.   I am really concerned about this behavior. Should I be?

Hi,

He is exhibiting MANY of the symptoms/signs of Clinical Depression, or other Mood Disorder.

I recommend either you [or his mom] to gently approach him about this; and try to coax him into seeing a doctor [either FP or Psychiatrist], in order to get help. This step won't be easy, but if you stress that you folks just want to HELP him, he should eventually agree to seeking professional help.

If he prefers to communicate w/ me online first, I'm more than glad to help.

Take care.

My other stepson has kind of clubbed fingertips. We looked it up in a medical encycopedia, and it said it is caused by a lung disorder and that it is probably fatal. Could there be other causes for this condition? He has always bitten his fingernails and chews on the skin around his nails.
